From the Orcas Island Historical Museum
Mark your calendars for a fun ‘old time’ Barn Dance next Saturday night Oct. 13 at the West Sound Community Hall.
Sponsored in conjunction with the 2012 ‘History Lives Here’ tour of Historic Barns which takes place on both Saturday Oct. 13 and Sunday Oct. 14, this dance is open to everyone and all ages.
Live music begins at 7 p.m. featuring ‘Hands Four’ from San Juan Island, with caller Mike Cohen leading contras, squares, line dances and waltzes. West Sound Community Hall is wheelchair accessible, so even if you don’t dance, you’re welcome to come in and enjoy the fun. Admission at the door is $10, and Barn Tour ticket-holders get in for $5.
Ticket-holders are also entitled to dinner at 10% off on Saturday night at the nearby West Sound Café. No advance tickets for the dance, but Barn Tour tickets may be purchased online at https://orcasmuseum.org/Orcas_HIstory_Lives_Here.html, or at the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce, the Art of the Salish Sea store, or by calling the OIHM office at 376-4849.
