San Juan County Clerk named 2026 Clerk of the Year

Lisa Henderson, Clerk of San Juan County, has been named the 2026 Clerk of the Year by the Washington State Association of County Clerks

The Washington State Association of County Clerks (WSACC) has named Lisa Henderson the 2026 Clerk of the Year. This esteemed award is presented to a clerk who demonstrates outstanding leadership, service, and dedication to supporting the Association and its mission. Of the 39 County Clerks across Washington State, Lisa was one of four nominees and ultimately received the honor in recognition of her exceptional contributions.

One nomination letter highlighted her accomplishments, stating: “Lisa has consistently demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a willingness to share her knowledge and expertise with others. Her resilience, determination, and strength enabled her to help secure a significant legislative victory for the Clerk’s Association. Throughout the process, she showed professionalism, persistence, and a strong commitment to serving both the courts and the public.”

This recognition reflects Henderson’s tireless efforts, strong leadership, and impeccable reputation, which have been a source of pride in the San Juan Islands for many years. San Juan County congratulates Lisa on this well-deserved statewide recognition and thanks her for her years of dedicated service to our community.

Congratulations to Lisa Henderson who has so richly earned this recognition. Lisa’s office is clearly efficient, but it is also a place of great humanity and kindness. Lisa’s open, personal approach to her customers permeates the entire Clerk’s Office staff. I’ve interacted with numerous county clerk’s offices in Washington and Oregon. San Juan county’s is head and shoulders above all others in competence and helpfulness. Bravo Lisa and Staff.

I want to echo all of Thomas’s comments. Lisa goes further to help, than any other clerk I have ever dealt with, when one batch of paperwork was misdirected, and as my client and I were wondering what was happening, out of the blue she called explained what happened and ushered the paperwork through the process. Lisa goes far beyond what is normally expected in the court system to make it work for everyone.
