Next week, Sept. 27th – Oct. 1st, is the annual Bus Ridership Survey for Orcas Island Public Schools. Elementary Principal Kyle Freeman says:
This is the one week a year that we count students who are riding the bus to school. We are funded for transportation based only on this count.
Any students who ride the bus to school during the week of September 27-October 1, will have an impact on our funding. We need to encourage families to put their students on the bus on these mornings if they intend to use the bus system at all this year.
PTSA President Holly King adds, “Just think, you’ll save time and gas, and reduce congestion at the drop-off and pick-up spots! All while helping your school get much-needed funding!”
