Today, Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) announced he is running for re-election to represent Washington’s 2nd Congressional District in a video message marking the beginning of candidate filing week.
Below are excerpts from Larsen’s announcement:
“This is an important week in Washington state this week. Today is the first day of filing week. That’s the time when people who are running for office this fall have to file with the Secretary of State in order to get on the ballot.
I am doing this video because I can’t see you in person to let you know that I am filing this week for re-election for the 2nd Congressional District here in Washington state.
These are tough times for a lot of people right now, and I want to assure you that I’m doing my best to continue to support workers and families throughout the 2nd Congressional District, and throughout the region, to help get through this pandemic.
In Congress, we are doing a lot of things, but most importantly, we need to continue to support workers and their families, getting money into the pockets of people in this region, and to hold the Trump administration accountable…
While we’re dealing with COVID-19 response and COVID-19 recovery, we have to get back to the regular business of our country. I’m running again because we need to continue the fight against climate change. We need to protect the environment. We need to protect our right to vote. We need to continue to invest in jobs and opportunities, especially given the fact that we’re in this pandemic-led recession right now…
Stay home if you can, stay healthy because you must, and please support me for re-election. Thanks again, and I will see you on the campaign trail live someday.”
Larsen has been endorsed by more than 60 local elected officials from across the 2nd District, in all five counties. A full list of endorsements from local leaders is here.
The district, which runs from Mountlake Terrace to Bellingham, includes all of San Juan and Island counties and parts of Whatcom, Skagit and Snohomish counties.
