WASHINGTON, D.C. –Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the below statement after being elected by his colleagues to serve as Ranking Member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee in the 118th Congress:
“I am honored by the confidence my Democratic colleagues have placed in me and my approach to be the next Ranking Member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. I commend Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton on a spirited campaign, and I look forward to working with her and the members of the Committee.
“In the 118th Congress, Democrats will protect and build upon the success of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the transportation provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act to create more jobs, keep the economy moving and build a cleaner, greener, safer and more accessible transportation system.”
Larsen becomes the first Member of Congress from Washington state to be elected as a party’s leader on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. Larsen has served on the Committee since arriving in the House in 2001 and as the top Democrat on the Aviation Subcommittee since 2013. In the 117th Congress, Larsen serves as Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee and as a senior member of the Coast Guard & Maritime Transportation Subcommittee.
