||| FROM SAN JUAN COUNTY ALERT SENSE |||

Recent heavy rains have caused considerable impacts to roads in San Juan County, and on Orcas Island in particular. With rain tapering off, waters should recede over next 24 hours. Islands are urged to use extreme caution while driving.

Most concerning is the 100% washout of Pt. Lawrence Road past Doe Bay. County Public Works will be assessing the site tomorrow once water recedes to begin developing a plan for restoration.

Residents living beyond the washout are asked to check in on their neighbors. More detailed information about repair plans will be communicated widely within community as soon as available.
