Two great concerts are coming next week for one great cause! Recovery in Community aims to identify islanders with mental health and/or addiction issues who, for a variety of reasons, are not getting the help they need.
Net proceeds from both concerts will help launch a RIC pilot project to train a network of volunteer advocates who will go to people on Orcas Island who now are falling through the cracks—depressed and unable to take decisive steps, stuck in an addiction cycle, or sick and isolated from family and friends—and guide them toward connections with resources available to help. RIC advocates will also be on hand when things get better, to help these people reintegrate into the community in a positive way. Read more about this important initiative at RICorcas.com.
The James Reid Band, reunited in 2014 after more than forty years, brings 22 great musicians together from Orcas and all over the US—North Carolina, Connecticut, Kentucky, Ohio, Seattle and more—for its first-ever performances on Orcas Island. The two Tales Tall & Tender benefit concerts will be at Orcas Center April 1 & 2 at 7:30 pm.
Both concerts are expected to sell out, so get your tickets today, and get ready for two lively evenings of good old rock ‘n’ roll and a few musical surprises! You’ll find yourself singing, tapping your toes, and dancing in the aisles!
