Tuesday, October 25, 3 – 7 p.m., Island Hoppin’ Brewery
— from Martha Fuller —
On Tuesday, October 25, from 3 to 7 pm, Island Hoppin’ Brewery will host a fundraiser for the Orcas Island Library’s Books and Beyond: the next Chapter expansion project. A portion of all sales during the “Raise a Glass to the Library” event will benefit the project. Information will be available about the expansion as well as the proposed Library levy lid lift on the November 8 ballot.
“The Library is such an important part of our community – who doesn’t love the Library?” said Becca Gray, co-owner of Island Hoppin’. “Nate and I are glad to help support the expansion and promote the levy lid lift.”
“We really appreciate the chance to tell people about the expansion and the levy lid lift,” said Library Director Phil Heikkinen. “No speeches, just conversation. I hope everyone will make a little time to stop by Island Hoppin’ next Tuesday!”
The Library expansion will nearly double the size of the current building, adding much-needed spaces for kids, young adults, technology, and community meetings, and increasing the collection capacity by thirty percent. Community members can learn more about the expansion and the levy lid lift, and follow the construction progress, on the Library’s website: www.orcaslibrary.org.
