BRAVO!!
Excellent!
Beautiful!
I am not privy to this statement. Is it something in the town history I’ve missed? What’s the story?
Yeah!
WHOOPEE! Marvelous… congratulations to all those generous souls who have spoken out & have given their generous support vocal or otherwise. How wonderful this showing of rainbows is. And how wonderful to be a part of such a caring community.
It was such a delight to walk through town this evening and see all the rainbow flags flying! I’m proud to call Eastsound my home.
For those not familiar with the background, here is a link to original Guest Opinion by Michael Rivkin and Jeffri Coleman:

Jeffery and Michael are giving away rainbow, rubber bracelets in their in- town Crow Valley Pottery shop that say, “Celebrate Orcas Island”. Jeffery tells me the ‘Bakery Boys’ (as I call them, having not yet met them) supplied the bracelets. Tony and I are both wearing one!
The community support shown by the local businesses is heartwarming. This is just one more reason Orcas is a great community.
She comes in colors everywhere;
She combs her hair
She’s like a rainbow
Coming colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
She’s like a rainbow
I was so proud that someone stapled a rainbow flag to the White Horse Pub Building! It will be up for a long time.
So impressed. Is it any wonder I want to come home so much? Keep the Love flowing, people.
Proof that despite the anger and fury of a storm, in the end the light will shine through and bring a rainbow.
Let’s hope the flag stays put this time!
Everyday I drive into town I look at the BBB flagpole to see if their flag was back up. Yesterday afternoon I saw it and a huge grin spread over my face. Yay!
The rainbow flag at Brown Bear Baking is back flying, where it belongs. The show of support and solidarity within our community is kind of like Christmas for me. To see the bright colors of the rainbow is a light in a dark time. It’s a beacon of hope. It says that we are all together as one in our diversity and that we won’t stand for bullying based on race, sex, sexual orientation, religion or lack thereof, political beliefs, or any other reason. Thanks to the businesses that made a stand for diversity. Eastsound is looking so colorful and beautiful. I hope this begins a long time tradition. Celebrate Orcas!
nicely done!
What a lovely clarity to remind us love trumps hate. Thank you for your letter, Michael and Jeffri.
What a great and wonderful community we live in. I am so happy to be part of it.
Thank you for your so well worded article, Jeffri and Michael.
We are impressed by the show of support in your community on this issue….keep up the good work.

Thrive On, Orcas Island! Embracing Diversity and our Interconnectedness.
I couldn’t help but smile as I walked through town. Eastsound looked so beautiful as Rainbow Flags flew proudly throughout our village. We had a bit of a storm earlier, but our Rainbows are back. Yeah!
….and that defines the meaning of COMMUNITY! HOORAY!
What a really feel good moment about our community!! And this could be only the beginning! Congratulations, Brown Bear Bakery!
The last thing I need is more donuts, But I going to buy some in hopes these guys can make a go of it and stick around.
This is one reason why I love this island! David and Lee – we are so excited to have you here, making such a great business that benefits us all. This world needs more openness and acceptance, not less – if everyone supported each other in flying flags of positive pride – in whatever area of their lives as long as it is not something that hurts other people, there would be a lot less pain, conflict, crime and war. I’m proud to live in this community, where people support each others’ uniqueness. And I hope the people who don’t feel comfortable with such openness will also feel the love this community shares – not negativity. Peace!
What a wonderful community we live in! It was beautiful to see all of the rainbow flags flying yesterday and I am now wearing my rainbow bracelet. Yes, celebrate Orcas island.
