The San Juan County Parks and Recreation Department has announced the date for the first of two public meetings to provide information and get public input on the final design for the Odlin Park renovation project. The first meeting will be held June 30, 2010, from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the Odlin Park Pavilion.
The Park’s master plan was completed in 2006 after a development process that included public input and took place over a six year period. The renovation is being funded through grants from the State Recreation and Conservation Office and the Public Facilities Financial Assistance Program.
The first hour of the June 30 meeting will offer an opportunity for people to walk through informational exhibits and learn more about some of the factors that will affect the final design including:
- Site issues: critical areas, the watershed, and cultural sites
- The Odlin Master plan and how it has evolved from 1976 to the present
- Design options for the day use area, including, expanded picnic area, parking, the ball field configuration, and the alignment of the campground road park entrance
- Design options for a new group camp development
- The cannon – Information about the cannon ownership, Fort Worden’s proposal, and factors to consider in deciding where the cannon should be located.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. Park personnel and the project consultants will make presentations and take questions and comments on each of those five areas and conclude with an opportunity for general discussion and public input.
The renovation of Odlin Park is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
