Can someone inform the Port Commissioners that the Open Meetings Act is NOT satisfied by publishing a blank agenda? No one even bothered to fill in the blanks. This is like a mini-Trump administration. “We don’t follow the law and we don’t care.” (Not to start a discussion about national politics.)
Peg — You commented on this before I could. The Port seems to be dismissivel (disdainful?) of really simple, easy protocol. This stuff is not hard to do, unless one really doesn’t want to do it. In the public arena, that’s not a choice. I urge the Port to look at its peer group of taxing districts (County, Library, School, Park & Rec, Hospital District, Fire) to figure out, at long last, how to do it correctly.
Board went into executive session for 1 hr with two current part time employee Dwight Guss and Tony Simpson to review employee performance.
Back into session, they approved to increase Dwight Guss hours from 24 hrs to 32 hrs at the same current rate of $40.00 hourly
They voted to offer Tony Simpson $60.00 hourly for 6 hrs weekly as a Regulatory Support Position with no benefits. Only 3 of the Commissioners voted in favor of this. Two Commissioners did not vote.
Tony Simpson wanted to wait to make a decision. He
has until the regular meeting on June 13th.
He was disappointed that he did not get the support from all the Commissioners.
The Commissioners will have to interview and reviewed
applications for a full time manager in the future.
Pierette, did an excellent job reporting the activity of the meeting..
The current budget reflects these positions structured in 2018 for 2019.
She is a great example of community involvement, asking questions, and engaging.
