Thursday, February 21, 6 p.m., Orcas Island Library

— from Mary Pugh for Orcas Island Library —

As part of the Library’s Black History Month events, we are excited to partner with the African-American Writers’ Alliance to bring three leading poets from the Seattle Chapter for a reading at the Library.

Join us as we welcome Nakeya Isabell, Georgia Stewart McDade, and Jaye Ware to the reading room on February 21 at 6 pm. They share their emotions, experiences, and observations through their poetry, including written and spoken word works.

As their website, African-American Writers’ Alliance states, “Our stories—triumphs, tragedies, and whatever is within and between the two—are the history of African Americans. We must tell our stories in our words and encourage others to do the same.”

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. There will be a Q&A and book signing with the authors and refreshments will be served.
