Salmon Hatchery Tour and Picnic Lunch, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests will gather at the return pond of the Glenwood Springs Salmon Hatchery on Orcas Island to receive a personal tour by Hatchery Manager Mike O’Connell of the ponds and hatchery facility that has been in operation on Orcas Island since 1978.  The tour will conclude with a picnic lunch in the historic barn on the grounds of the home of Jim and Kathy Youngren. Camp Orkila’s Fall Festival and Haunted Hay Ride. Fall Festival will be from 1:00-5:30pm. They’ll have hot dogs, face painting, archery, climbing at the Climbing Tower, and much, much more! Big Bash Dinner Dance! Orcas Senior Center. A social hour starts the event at 5 p.m. with appetizers and a no-host bar. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and dance music provided by DJ Bruce Pavitt livens the atmosphere for singing, dancing, watching and listening pleasure at 7 p.m. Only 60 tickets are being sold and they are going fast, so buy your tickets now! Tickets are $20 per person, and can be purchased at Darvill’s Bookstore and at the Senior Center until 4 p.m. on weekdays.

The National Theatre’s smash hit new production of Stephen Beresford’s new play The Last of the Haussmans will be streamed to Orcas Center at 1 p.m. Tickets  are $18 for adults, $13 for students ($2 off for Orcas Center Members) and may be purchased at www.orcascenter.org or by calling 376-2281 ext. 1 or visiting the Orcas Center Box Office open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon – 4 pm.

Charter Review Forum,  2 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall. The Commissioners will speak about the Charter review process and all three proposals. There will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

Monday, October 22

Kill-a-Watt Meter Workshop, 10-11 a.m., Orcas Library. In recognition of National Energy Awareness Month, the Energy Advisors from OPALCO have teamed up with local libraries to present a series of workshops in October to help members learn how to trim the waste from their electric usage and monthly bills using a Kill-a-Watt meter.

Last chance to move vehicles to Anacortes, 10:05 p.m. sailing from Orcas. After that sailing, the Orcas terminal will be closed to vehicle traffic until midday Friday, Oct. 26 (scheduled re-opening with the 10:35 a.m. sailing from Anacortes).
