“This petition urges the San Juan County Council to adopt a resolution committing to be a Safe and Inclusive Organization.
A RESOLUTION that proclaims the San Juan County Council’s commitment to providing a safe and inclusive organization for all staff and residents empathetic of race, color, national origin, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation including gender expression or identity, marital status, age, military status, disability, or immigration status. We strive to acknowledge, dismantle, and eradicate systemic racism, bigotry, and prejudice for all residents, particularly populations of marginalized identities such as members of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPoC), LGBTQ+ communities. We support organizations that commit to fostering safety and inclusion and will not support organizations that perpetuate racism, ageism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice.”
The resolution will be formally presented to San Juan County Council in August. Thank you to everyone who worked on this petition/resolution!
