Every Tuesday, July 18 – August, Orcasong Farm

— from Gretchen Krampf for Orcasong Farm —

Orcasong Farm will offer seven weekly hands-on classes to Orcas Elders, 55 and better, to help you understand the benefits of supporting Island farmers and encourage the choice, and use, of locally-grown foods. Each week Maura Lynn, Orcasong’s market gardener, will teach about different organic garden produce and participants will harvest from the garden and prepare a fresh and healthy lunch together.

Classes begin on Tuesday, July 18 11:00-1:30 and will be held each Tuesday through August at Orcasong Farm, 280 Dolphin Bay Road. Transportation is available to and from the Senior Center. More details are available on our website orcasongfarm.org or by calling Gretchen at 360-317-8220.

There is no fee for this program as it has been funded through the generous support of OICF. Registration IS required, and limited to 14, so call the Senior Center at (360) 376-2677 and get on the list, We are encouraging participants to enroll in the full series, though each class can stand alone.

Join us and learn how and why food choices affect our overall health and well being and become empowered to steward your health toward a brighter future.
