Orcas Island Women celebrate the beautiful day and significant date
Local visual artist Susan Slapin sent out a call to Orcas Island women to gather at Waterfront Park last Sunday for a photograph celebrating the date — 10/10/10.
Answering Slapin’s admittedly last-minute call were:
- Samara Shaw near tree on left, seated on ground;
- Angelica Mayo on table;
- Marlia Starwater Dunsmore with skirt, center;
- Ellen Wherette, “prancing along highly spirited from the right;”
- “Deb?” In rear, facing right;
- Luann Pamatian, right rear, facing left.
Slapin took the picture and says, “I sense more on the horizon, maybe once a year?”
Or maybe 11:11 a.m. (and p.m.?) on Nov. 11, 2011.
