The Orcas Island Film Festival (OIFF) is thrilled to announce the return of its Spring Mini Fest happening April 25–27, 2025 at the Sea View Theatre. This intimate fest features eight hand picked films—a mix of powerful documentaries and compelling feature films from six countries—offering something for every film lover. From laugh-out-loud comedies and period dramas to unforgettable documentaries, these films will spark conversation, ignite the imagination, and transport you to new worlds. “It’s such a fun time where our film lovers can indulge in a full weekend of great films,” says OIFF’s co-director Donna Laslo.

A Few Highlights:

Bad Shabos – A riotous screwball comedy that transforms a traditional Shabbat dinner into an unforgettable night of chaos. With its pitch-perfect cast, outrageous twists, and Tribeca’s Audience Award seal of approval, this wild ride is not to be missed.

Wilding – From five-time Emmy-winning director David Allen, and BAFTA & Emmy-winning cinematographers Tim Cragg and Simon de Glanville, comes a breathtaking documentary about a British couple who let their dying farm return to nature—unleashing a revolutionary movement in rewilding.

Marcella – Meet Marcella Hazan, the woman who revolutionized Italian cooking in America. Through mouthwatering visuals and rich storytelling, this film is a love letter to flavor, tradition, and the joy of simple ingredients.

On Swift Horse– Set in the 1950s, this mesmerizing period drama follows newlywed Muriel (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her enigmatic brother-in-law Julius (Jacob Elordi) as they navigate love, freedom, and risk in a tale filled with beauty, longing, and quiet rebellion.

“We’re proud to continue our tradition of bringing world-class cinema to Orcas Island,” said Carl Spence, OIFF’s chief curator.  “The Spring Mini Fest is a real treat—small in size, but rich in storytelling and cinematic excellence. It’s a gem of an event.”
