Intertwining Threads….Past, Present and Future
||| FROM B.J. ARNOLD for ORCAS ISLAND ARTWORKS |||
Ellen Wherrette: “Throughout my life, I have painted and sculpted. The rich intricacies of the natural and the man-made world inspire and inform my on-going journey of exploration. Rhythms, colors, music, mystery and dreams unfold within and without, guiding my journey.
“For me, writing about my impressions is the jumping-off point, which leads to painting and/or sculpting. Writing about the qualities which I hope to manifest in a painting or sculpture, is how I develop the tone and physical details of my work.
“Faced with a blank canvas or a ball of clay, through my writing, I have already internalized my blueprint for the work at hand. Now the process of creating the piece is an on-going dialog between myself and my work, as I strive to understand the piece I’m making.”
