||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND FILM FESTIVAL |||
We had a great turnout for our first movie in our Afterlife Classic film series, with over 50 people in attendance! We believe our film lovers enjoyed the soft, insightful exploration of what one memory from their life they would most like to take into eternity.
Our next film jumps the tracks and heads into the sarcastically funny world of Purgatory. Come see what it may be like to “work through” a few issues that you thought you left behind in your former life.
Join us on Sunday, March 13 at 4 p.m. for our next film, “Wrist Cutters.” As before, there will be an introduction to the film and an open discussion after the screening. You are welcome to bring in food and drink (although please be nice and neat).
WRIST CUTTERS (2006)
Sunday, March 13 @ 4 p.m.
This wonderful dark comedy won the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) best director award when it was shown there in 2006. Its purgatory setting (looking like a run-down area in Bakersfield, CA) provides the backdrop for a unique view of the afterlife.
The Classic Film Series is FREE to the public and generously funded by the OrcaSong Institute. Thank you!

Looking forward to seeing you at the movies!

Umm, these comments are from IMDb:
“A main character overdoses on heroin, main characters are shown smoking and drinking nonstop and in the deleted scenes, a man pukes from being drunk. There are several scenes of characters drinking & driving.”
“Suicide is the basis of the movie; several scenes of different suicides and some are graphically shown. A small child thinks about attempting suicide and in the deleted scenes, a little boy is shown dead in a classroom.”
Why would anyone want to push this imagery into our community?
