The Orcas Community Resource Center (OCRC) and Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union (PSCCU) are partnering during the months of November and December to collect essential household supplies, hygiene products, and warm winter clothing for Orcas Island residents experiencing financial hardship.
Community members are invited to drop off new, unused donations at Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union in Eastsound throughout the holiday season. Donations will support the Resource Center’s Coates Cabinet Hygiene Bank, which provides essential household items, personal care supplies, and clothing to individuals and families.
For many island households, the cost of basic necessities can create a significant financial burden, especially during the winter months when heating bills and other seasonal expenses increase. Access to essential supplies helps families stretch limited budgets while ensuring they have what they need to stay healthy, comfortable, and warm.
“We’re so grateful to Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union for creating this opportunity for our community to come together and support one another,” said Erin O’Dell, Executive Director of the Orcas Community Resource Center. “Something as simple as a warm pair of socks, a winter hat, or a supply of household essentials can make a meaningful difference for a neighbor who is struggling to make ends meet. This partnership is a wonderful example of how local organizations can work together to care for our island community.”
