Orcas Christian School (OCS) is expanding its gymnasium programming with movie nights, open gyms and other activities designed to bring students, families and staff together while strengthening the school community.

The school hosted its first movie night Oct. 9, drawing approximately 25 to 30 children for an evening of entertainment and community engagement.

Students gathered to watch a movie while enjoying popcorn and lemonade. The event also provided an opportunity for parents and school staff to connect, socialize and build relationships outside the classroom.

“We were thrilled with the turnout for our first movie night. It was wonderful to see the kids enjoying a movie together while parents and staff had the opportunity to connect and get to know one another better,” said Kami Griffen, vice principal of Orcas Christian School. “We’re excited to continue offering movie nights, open gyms and other activities that bring our school community together.”

Building on the positive turnout, OCS plans to offer additional movie nights, open gym sessions and other activities in the coming months.

The expanded programming aims to make greater use of the school's gymnasium while providing opportunities for students and families to connect beyond regular school hours.

School organizers hope the new activities will encourage greater community involvement and create more opportunities for students, parents and staff to build lasting relationships. For more on upcoming events, check out their website at oics.org.
