The Orcas Choral Society is delighted to name Marianne Lewis as its permanent artistic director.

Lewis, currently interim director, led the society’s successful winter concerts and is preparing the choir for its spring season.

“We are so pleased that Marianne has decided to stay on with us,” said Cynthia Abolin, choral society board president. “We’re having a wonderful time working with her.”

“This is a great group of singers,” Lewis said. “I’m happy to be part of it.”

Also choirmaster and organist at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound, Lewis previously directed choirs and served as organist at Portland, Ore., area churches and accompanied the Oregon Repertory Singers in Portland. She holds music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and University of Oregon.

The Orcas Choral Society is a community choir with more than 60 members. Its spring concert, “Songs from the Heart,” will be performed at the Orcas Center May 6 and 7.
