Unless you’ve used the Orcas Center kitchen for your events or meetings, you may not have known that we didn’t have a dishwasher! Instead, we had a dish sanitizer, where dishes had to be washed by hand, and then sanitized in the machine. As you can imagine, this would create a lot of extra work for our volunteers, staff, and those who hosted events.
Thanks to a generous donor, we were able to install an honest-to-goodness commercial dishwasher and upgrade our washing racks. We also obtained dishware that will now be available to other non-profit organizations on Orcas Island. Instead of each non-profit having to purchase and store common items, we can now all share these resources! This allows Orcas Center to better serve our amazing non-profit community on the island.
