AwardsOrcas Center volunteers were celebrated, wined, dined and honored on Sunday, March 8 at the Orcas Center Annual Meeting and Volunteer Thank You Dinner. Executive Director Kara O’Toole gave a taste of the coming performance season; the many classes and workshops available, the Center’s relationships with the Orcas Choral Society, Senior Center, TedXOrcas, the Orcas Island Film Festival and developing projects with several other local organizations. Members and volunteers enjoyed a delicious meal lovingly prepared and served by Orcas Center Board Members.

The evening’s highlight was volunteer recognition and Orcas Center’s “Oscar” awards. The Margaret Exton Award for exceptional volunteer involvement went to 16 year old Adia Dolan and her father Christopher Dolan who volunteer faithfully both on and off stage.

The Bunny Award for the outstanding performer of 2014 went to Cali Bagby, who appeared in three Orcas Center productions: 39 Steps, An Evening at the Moulin Rouge and A Christmas Carol. The winners gave very moving acceptance speeches that left the audience with not a dry eye in the house.
