— from Susannah Weaver for Orcas Center —

Orcas Center has an exciting job opportunity available for someone who loves the arts and people. The Box Office Manager / Volunteer Coordinator is the face and voice of Orcas Center.

Box Office management includes ticket sales and performance promotion, which centers on maintaining the Box Office program systems and files (ticketing software, membership patron database and archive management: posters, programs, and articles).

Duties include providing daily box office reports for bookkeeper and others as needed, processing and marketing membership, in addition to managing the box office during every aspect of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival.

The Box Office Manager provides customer service to patrons and acts as the primary staff interface with public and information services: answering questions about performances, programs, classes, rehearsals, parents finding kids, kids finding parents, locating visual arts specs, and lost and found etc.

Volunteer coordination includes training and staffing the front of house volunteers: box office, house managers, ushers, and beverage and merchandise/cd sales for all OC produced events. Volunteer participation is encouraged and invigorated through Box Office contact and outreach and the ability to perform box office duties in the absence of staff or volunteers.

The successful candidate is a champion of the arts: social, dependable, flexible, and is highly self-motivated. S/he is engaged in community outreach and possesses some administration skills.
