Orcas Island High School Environmental Club, joined by Orcas Island Elementary School 5th grade Operation E.A.R.T.H. Group, and other members from the high school, middle school and the community, marched through the village of Eastsound on Tuesday April 22, to celebrate Earth Day.
The parade was 50+ community members strong.
The E.A.R.T.H Club (Environmental Association Ready to Help) brought Earth Day signs made from recycled materials. “We are spreading the awareness to encourage people to keep our earth clean,” said E.A.R.T.H member Astasia.
The entire Orcas Island High School Environmental Club carried a large Earth Ball over their shoulders throughout town. “We’re so glad so many young people came out to the parade to celebrate Earth Day,” said OIHSE member Brigid Ehrmantraut.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated/came to watch! It was great to see Salmonberry students there too and awesome that several community musicians could make it. Also, a big thanks to Eric for bringing the giant Earth Ball.
