Award-winning website explores OPALCO’s 75-year history.

OPALCO’s 75th Anniversary website has won the Silver Award of Distinction in the 19th Annual Communicator Award of Distinction competition. The website was designed by PixelSpoke, a Portland, Oregon based web design and interactive advertising agency – with roots on Orcas Island.

The award was selected out of more than 6,000 entries in one of the largest competitions of its kind in the world. It is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts, a group consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms.

This is the third prestigious national award garnered by OPALCO’s web presence. OPALCO received the top honor for “Best Website” in the 2010 “Spotlight on Excellence” national awards program sponsored by the Council of Rural Electric Communicators and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. In 2009, we were honored with the Silver Davey Award in the Energy category.

Suzanne Olson, Communication Specialist for OPALCO, said, “We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful to PixelSpoke for their consistently excellent work, their marketing and technological savvy. We are so lucky to have PixelSpoke on our team and, beyond the thrill of award recognition, to offer our members the best in online information and resources.”

The 75th Anniversary website has become OPALCO’s dynamic historical archive. If you have stories, photos, video or memorabilia to share, please email Suzanne Olson.
