Orcas Island Fire & Rescue was called for a structure fire Friday morning in the Orcas Road area near the Golf Course.
OIFR Battalion Chief Greg Sawyer was first on the scene and confirmed a working fire and occupants were accounted for and safe.
The fire was extinguished shortly after arrival, crews completed extensive overhaul operations to ensure no fire spread occurred. This fire did not extend into brush and was confined to the structure.
“The cause of the fire is accidental, involving a propane water heater. Residents were alerted by a working smoke detector and able to quickly exit the structure” Acting Fire Chief Chad Kimple.
No injuries to residents or fire department personnel.
