2LT Ryan Schneider

Orcas Island High School alumnus Ryan Schneider has achieved a significant milestone in his career and service to the nation. Schneider, a 2021 graduate of Orcas Island High School, recently completed the rigorous Officer Candidate School (OCS) program and has been officially commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Schneider’s journey to becoming a Marine officer has been marked by dedication, perseverance, and a strong commitment to public service. Prior to his commissioning, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security from Salem University in West Virginia. His academic achievements, combined with his military training, have prepared him for a career dedicated to leadership, national defense, and protecting the United States.

“Ryan has always demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, whether in academics, athletics, or his pursuit of military service,” said Orcas Island Fire Chief Chad Kimple, uncle to Ryan. “His hard work and dedication are truly inspiring, and we are incredibly proud of his accomplishments.”

The Marine Corps Officer Candidate School is known for its demanding training and leadership development, designed to test and forge future officers both mentally and physically. Schneider successfully completed the program, proving his ability to lead Marines with integrity, courage, and professionalism.

As he embarks on his career as a Marine Corps officer, Second Lieutenant Schneider will begin the next phase of his training at The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, Virginia, where he will receive further instruction in leadership, warfighting tactics, and military operations.

The Orcas Island community congratulates 2nd Lt. Ryan Schneider on his remarkable achievements and extends best wishes for his future endeavors in service to the country.
