Salmonberry students at spring planting, replacing the Christmas trees

Salmonberry School’s Annual Christmas Tree Sale will be happening again this year, starting Thanksgiving weekend!   The trees are harvested from a family farm located in the Skagit Valley.

We strive to find local, healthy sustainably harvested trees with no chemical treatment.  There will be several species to choose from, including Noble, Grand and Frasier firs, and sizes from table tops to towers.  We will also have local “wild crafted” trees and a few live trees for sale. All proceeds from this fundraiser support the programs and students of Salmonberry School.

In an effort to make this fundraiser as sustainable as possible, the students of Salmonberry have pledged, once again, to plant a new tree or native plant for every Christmas tree they sell.  Last year, the students worked on a reforestation and wetland habitat restoration project at Beaverton Valley Marsh Preserve on San Juan Island.  In collaboration with the San Juan County Land Bank, students planted over 100 willows, salmonberries and other native plants.  The school plans to return to Beaverton Valley in January to fulfill this year’s planting pledge.

Trees will be available for purchase at the school, 867 North Beach Rd., starting Saturday, November 27th.   Hours will be 3-5:30pm Fridays, 11am- 3pm Saturdays and Sundays.  If you would like more information, please stop by and take a look, or call Amy and Eric at376-4454.
