Welcome to our weekly feature, Occam’s Razor,
from local artist S.C. Watson.
Occam’s Razor | Our island, our world through the eyes, pen of S.C. Watson
About the Author: S. C. Watson
S.C. Watson has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. Which is to say a couple of days, at least. Mostly self taught with traditional and digital media, he has been selling his artistic soul for the past two and half decades to the highest bidder, including, but not limited to Wizards of the Coast, Fantasy Flight Games, Malfador Machinations, and various private clients, including independent authors.
When he's not working in his studio, socially distancing with his family or walking his art director dachshund, Rocky, he can be found wandering the Deer Harbor woods aimlessly muttering about masks, politics, and the artistic merits of taupe.
He likes sushi and is dismayed there isn't an established restaurant on the island.

Another misleading cartoon by S.C. Watson. The mess is not being caused by EWUA. It is being caused by the “recall water” people.
Certainly nothing to do with the embezzlement of funds by the current GM has any part of this mess. Why would a board of directors care about that?
Lift rug, sweep. All gone!
“Embezzlement” is an awfully strong word to describe Dan Burke’s unauthorized self payments.
I prefer to think of them as strong evidence that certain EWUA board members were asleep at the wheel and failed to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities to the members by overseeing his actions. Tenar Hall and Steve Smith protested vigorously but their words fell on deaf ears and they were soon ousted. A detailed account of this sorry tale can be found online at https://recallwater.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/ThingsFallApart615.pdf
As Hall says below, it was indeed a “hot mess.”
Thus I support the impending recall of the so-called dominant board faction — especially Jim Nelson, who first gave Burke a pass, and Teri Nigretto, who has recently been abusing the EWUA email system to attack Smith and try to absolve Burke of his unwarranted payments.
Michael,
Borrowing the definition from the US Criminal Code for the purposes of justifying the term embezzlement:
To prove the crime of embezzlement under 18 U.S.C. § 666(a)(1)(A) the United States must establish the following specific elements in addition to the general elements:
-there was a trust or fiduciary relationship between the defendant and the private organization or State or local government agency;
-the property came into the possession or care of the defendant by virtue of his/her employment;
-the defendant’s dealings with the property constituted a fraudulent conversion or appropriation of it to his/her own use; and
-the defendant acted with the intent to deprive the owner of the use of this property.
The forensic audit validates every one of these statements. I remain unclear as to why this activity has not been forwarded to the San Juan County Sherif and Prosecuting Attorney for review of charges. Both factions of the current board acknowledge a set of facts consistent with the descriptions above.
Curious how you came to that conclusion there, Dan, since that not what the cartoon says at all.
How about your one sided cartoon four years ago about Rick Hughes campaign signs?
Note: All of the people on the Recall Water team are EWUA members. Three are current board members and at least four, including me, are former board members. Thus Recall Water is very much part of EWUA. And the whole thing is IMO a hot mess.
I have to agree with SC Watson… how did Dan Christopherson manage to interpret this cartoon as having anything to do with the EWUA mess? Was it the mention of a ferris wheel that sent him into this peculiar vortex? Perhaps more likely, Dan thought he was responding to a different thread here, and just lost track of what he was doing… (?) :-)
@ Robert…Dan was referencing the previous cartoon focused on the “hot mess” at EWUA…
