Sorry Shane, I don’t ‘get it’… the current mess in the Middle East is eclipsing what? Is that supposed to be the Sudanese flag? If so, the colors are wrong; the Sudanese flag is red, white and black stripes with a green triangle. Presumably you are pointing out the uncomfortable truth that Gaza gets all the media attention and the ongoing chaos in Sudan receives almost none. I would add the current situation in Haiti to the list of man-made disasters that have been essentially ignored by global media, which continues to fixate all coverage on Gaza and Ukraine. Not that those two conflicts aren’t worthy of attention but they are not the ONLY newsworthy things happening on the planet right now.
@Ken, that is the Palestinian flag. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Palestine
and a picture is worth a thousand words and more than 30 000 Lifes Thanks SC
Yes, thank you SC. A picture does speak a thousand words, and it takes courage to speak truth to power. This has been one of those issues, the elephant in the room, that has, for far too long, been an issue that we are not supposed to talk about. One that people all over the world are now waking up to.
As Ken states, like Gaza, like Sudan, like Haiti, like Ukraine, etc., etc., etc. There are so many conflict zones that are worthy of our attention at this moment in time that one becomes a distraction from another. They’ve become so commonplace that we’ve become complacent with, we’ve become immune to them. Indeed, the worst atrocities committed throughout the world are now considered commonplace. The difference today, in spite of Israel declaring a news blackout and targeting, arresting, and murdering all of the on the ground free-lance journalists that they can find, is that people are now able to witness the genocide of innocent people from the comfort of their homes as a result of smartphones that are being used by those that are in the actual combat zones… and it’s not comfortable anymore. I have friends that live in Gaza… I get letters, photos, and videos from them everyday. I know what the reality on the ground is because I hear it from my friend who networks with his friends throughout Gaza.
And not unlike the 75 year ongoing genocide that’s continuing to happen in Gaza today, a genocide that’s actually happening in all of Palestine, (the West Bank included), the origins of many of these conflicts are the result of U.S. foreign policy intervention that’s on the level of state sponsored terrorism. Policies that often result in conflicts involving the use of proxy governments (like Ukraine, and Israel), policies backed by our western colonialist friends and allies often resulting in wars in resource rich, defense poor countries, and mostly in countries that are inhabited by people whose skin color is different from our own. Indeed, the entire current map of the middle east could be said to have been founded upon the modern day principal of resource wars.
Again, this is no secret. There have been U.S. Presidents and top administrative officials, and whistleblowers from the White House, the F.B.I., the C.I.A. the U.S. military, and the private sector who’ve been divulging information regarding our foreign policy initiatives for the middle east and in the Baltics for many decades. It is as always… the war profiteers win, and the people lose.
The Palestinian / Israeli issue is one of the greatest myths of all time. Both the American and the Israeli people have been force fed misleading information in relation to this since before the Holocaust and the Jewish exodus from Europe. They lied about Viet Nam, they lied about Iraq, they lied about Afghanistan, they lied about Libya, they’re lying about Syria, and Iran, and they’re lying about Israel & Palestine today.
Thank you JC… this is a discussion whose time has come.
