||| FROM LYNN BAKER for EMMANUEL CHURCH |||

This Sunday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m., Emmanuel Church will resound with Christmas in a Lessons and Carols service. You are invited to come, sing, and hear the stories.

“This is really my favorite service of the year,” said Marianne Lewis, Emmanuel’s organist and choir director. “We tell the Christmas story through Bible readings and carols. It’s glorious music, and a chance for everyone to participate.”

Lessons and Carols services are traditional in the Episcopal and many other church traditions. The entire service alternates readings from the Bible with choral, solo and instrumental renditions of accompanying songs.

“I hope everyone who loves Christmas music and the Christmas story will come and join us,” Lewis said.

Emmanuel is at 242 Main St., Eastsound. It’s the white church on the waterfront. All are welcome.
