The Regular Board of Fire Commissioners (BOFC) Meeting for Monday, August 15, 2016 has been cancelled due to a lack of a quorum for this meeting. There will be a special meeting held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 5:30 pm in the Public Meeting Room of the Eastsound Fire Station.
This is a good example as to the need for a five-member Board which governs our various taxing districts. About ten years ago, the Eastsound Sewer District expanded to a board of five directors and has never had an issue with establishing a quorum in order to do the community’s business.
I strongly recommend that the Fire District begin the process to expand the OIFR Board to five members asap !!! As an aside, five members results in a much more lively discussion of the issues.
Ed, I’m currently working on that legal process.
I could not agree more, and I believe the board sees the wisdome in that! So let’s support them in a smooth transition.
