On-Line Permit Center Opens in new window

The Department of Community Development is excited to announce that you can now search for permits, check permit status, request code enforcement, pay fees, and request inspections through the **NEW** San Juan County Online Permit Center. Links to the new online permit center are found on the Community Development Webpage or at San Juan County Online Permit CenterThe system is new to county staff, so your patience during this transition is appreciated.

Search Permits

Searching for permits and checking permit status is available to the public without an account.  Click the San Juan County Online Permit Center link to get started. You will need an application number, applicant last name, or parcel number to search.  A helpful search guide is found here: San Juan County Permit Search Instructions

Building, land use, and fire permits are searchable online as far back as 2010. All environmental health sewage disposal permits are searchable online. Right-of-way permits are searchable as far back as 2015.

Apply for permit, pay fees or request an inspection

In order to apply for a permit, pay fees or request an inspectionyou will need to sign up for an account. To pay fees or request inspections for a building permit application that has been submitted or is issued, first sign up for an account and then request the portal access code for your building permit by sending an email to dcdpermits@sanjuanco.com. The email needs to include the name that you used when you signed up for your account and your building permit number.  If you want your contractor to be able to request inspections, please include the contractor name in the email.  Your contractor will need to sign up for their own account.

Community Development has extended office hours until 6 pm Thursdays in September (September 12, 19, and 26).  Both the Friday Harbor office at 135 Rhone Street and the Orcas Island Office at the Senior Center will be open.  You can walk in or call us if you need help getting an account, logging in, or with any other question you may have.
