||| FROM TOM EVERSOLE, INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT, ORCAS ISLAND HEALTH CARE DISTRICT |||
A new X-ray machine at the Orcas Clinic was made possible through a generous gift to the community by Ms. O’Leary, a local resident whose caring will continue serving this community for many years to come. She made the donation after observing that it should not be necessary for her neighbors to make a trip to the mainland to get an X-ray and also in recognition of the excellent service provided by Dr. Michael Alperin.
With this new resource, Island Primary Care – Orcas can provide routine imaging services to its patients and as a professional courtesy to other medical practices on the island by appointment most afternoons.
Since its installation in April 2021, the machine has produced more than 1,100 radiographic images (X-rays). It produces digital images allowing providers to view images quickly and to share them with mainland radiologists and specialists for consultations without delay.
The Orcas Island Health Care District is extremely grateful for this important gift and for the employees and volunteers who are working to improve health care on Orcas. To join the District’s e-mail list, go to: www.orcashealth.org. Enter your name and email address in the “Stay Informed” window. Thank you!

Thank you, Fannie. What a fabulous gift to everyone!
Good news….
You might also report on the ability to have steroid shots scheduled at the clinic, with a referral from the Dr.
I’ve recently experienced two of those 1100 X-rays on that machine. They were quick, efficient and effective — with analysis of the images by mainland radiologists within a day.
And I am the most thankful of all.!
I bow my head with gratitude.
The X-Ray machine is a great gift to the Island. But Fannie O’Leary is an inspiration, and an even greater gift to our community!! I wanna be like her when I grow up.
Me too Doug! I have not met the lady but will be privileged to do so when the moment presents itself. She is certainly amoung the best of us. I have seen first hand the importance of this machine to our community. Thank you ma’am.
