The new San Juan Islands fall schedule goes into effect on Sunday, Sept. 26.
David Moseley, State Assistant Transportation Secretary for Ferries said last month that the schedule incorporates adjustments based on input from the public “where possible, given our objectives to improve schedule reliability and adhere to U.S. Coast Guard crew endurance requirements.
“Some changes that reflect customer input include:
• Providing a 6:00 p.m. sailing from Anacortes to Friday Harbor.
• Providing a 4:30 p.m. sailing from Shaw to Anacortes.
• Loading only walk-on traffic at the 11:45 a.m. stop at Lopez.
• The 8:25 p.m. sailing from Anacortes will stop at Lopez and Friday Harbor and the 8:55 p.m. sailing from Anacortes will stop at Shaw and Orcas.

The Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce is discussing with our local Ferry Advisory Committee the scheduling of a public meeting on Orcas Island. This would be a forum for public input on ferry schedules, and other ferry system issues. An invitation has been made to key staff members of Washington State Ferries, as well. You can read more about it on Orcas Issues when it is set up.
