Last month, a petition was circulated during and after the Music Advocacy Group Concert in support of a bill to create a “Music Matters” special license plate. The income from fees for this license plate would create a perpetual funding source to “promote music education in schools throughout Washington.”
Sufficient signed petitions were obtained from around the State, including Orcas Island, and the bill was submitted to both houses of the State Legislature. The bill passed the House earlier and the news is that yesterday it was successful in the Senate.

What an excellent idea!!! Thanks to the Music Advocacy group!
When will the plates be available on the DOL website for order?
The word on the Music Matters campaign is that the Governor has signed the bill that authorizes them and the originating group is in the process of raising the $35,000 necessary to design and I guess begin production of the plates.
The website for the campaign is tinyurl.com/pdnmusic . That’s probably the best place to follow progress of the project… and then there are lots of comments on Google. Marilyn Anderson
