Yep, I’m muttering about Stacey Abrams again.

She has a new book out. This time it’s a children’s book. Her first, and in addition to the wide range of books she has published previously: politics, mystery, thrillers, romance (under pen name Selena Montgomery). In spite of her extensive work on voter rights and her current bid for governor of the State of Georgia, Stacey manages to keep turning out books.

Stacey’s Extraordinary Words is Abrams’ SECOND book published in 2021. The other, While Justice Sleeps (a political thriller) came out in May, 2021. Though it’s fiction, some reviewers have suggested this one may have been inspired by a former
president.

Our wonderful Children’s Librarian, Jenny DeGroot, has ordered a copy of Stacey’s Extraordinary Words for the library that will be available as soon as it comes in and is processed. Darvill’s Bookstore has also ordered copies that should arrive soon, should you want to order a copy for yourself or a child in your life.

In case you can’t wait, Stacey Abrams will read her new book to you and your child, grandchild, best friend, neighbor, your dog… (Probably not your cat. In my experience cats only appreciate books about cats.)

You can also watch Seth Meyers’ interview with Stacey about her new book here:

Seth and Stacey get to the book after they cover Georgia’s upcoming governor’s race and other political matters. I think this is the interview in which Stacey admits that she misspelled ‘chocolate,’ not realizing (given she grew up in the South) that it was a word with three syllables. Well, I can sympathize with that. The number of syllables in any word is remarkably fluid in Southern American dialect.

One further note: Seth is home with Covid in his virtual interview with Stacey. Covid seems to be everywhere. Be careful. Get vaccinated. There’s a virus out there.
