From Ginny Lu Wood, Event Organizer
Be a part of the First Ever, Orcas Island FLASH MOB!
The first meeting and creative session will be today, Jan. 13th at the Odd Fellows Hall at 3 p.m.
This is the only get together before the actual dance [filming] date. Time is very limited at Odd Fellows, so 3 p.m. is important. While the actual filming date is yet to be decided, it appears that Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20 after the SeaHawks game, may be the best time.
The video of the Dance Mob scene will be at Island Market, Orcas Has Talent sponsors. The video will be a part of the Orcas Has Talent Finale Show on Feb. 9th at the Orcas Center and will air on the huge screen during one of the voting rounds as a part of The Orcas Has “Special” Talents Video.
Organizer Donna Laslo says “We’ve done this type of video for the past two years, and it’s a hoot! It is a great way for as many islanders as possible to dance, laugh, play, and then watch the event on the big screen!
“All of our efforts are going to raise money for a great cause….Orcas Island Prevention Coalition: Youth Leadership and Prevention programs for our kids. So you dancers, mob scene wanna bes, innocent by standers, toe tapping, knee sliding, street dancers just show up this Sunday, at the Odd Fellows’ Hall at 3 p.m. Email if you cannot make it to the meeting. We can email you a prep video or email you all details.
“We are interested in your thoughts creative/silly moments that you can have during the dance. So, help us make it happen! Have dance chats/gatherings with your dancing buddies, get ready to boogie.
“This is not going to be a precision dance format. No worries there. Bring your willingness to play.
“If you want to be a camera person, please respond or let me know at Sunday’s meeting.
“We are starting a Facebook Page for Orcas Has Talent, so friend us and you will be able to keep informed. .” Donna Laslo can be reached at OrcasHasTalent@gmail.com

Hi Donna,
My fifth grade class has been dying to do a flash mob. Can you email us a prep video? Birdie Greening told us about this. We would love to be a part of it. Thank you so much. This is my school address. My home email is nancymay@centurytel.net. Thank you so much. The kids are really excited. We are ready to BOOGIE!
Warm regards,
Nancy May Knapp
