Have the medications you take changed since you bought your drug insurance? Even if they haven’t, the insurance companies change their rates each year. They also change the list of drugs that they cover and the co-pays that they charge. As a result, it makes sense to do an annual check-up of your Medicare Part D drug plan to see if the one you signed up for is still the best one for you. SHIBA volunteers will be at the Orcas Island Library from 10 to 3 this Friday, October 17, to help you see if you need to make any changes. No appointments are necessary. Just bring the list of drugs you take, with the dosage for each, the name of your current drug insurance company and your Medicare card.

SHIBA is an educational program of the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner and trained SHIBA volunteers provide free, unbiased, and confidential information about Medicare. The SHIBA volunteers on Orcas Island are sponsored by Island Hospital and are available for individual consultations on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Orcas Medical Center. Call 376-2561 to schedule an appointment.
