Maybe shy, but totally charming, the Montessori kids entertain at their Valentine's Tea

Maybe shy, but totally charming, the Montessori kids entertain at their Valentine’s Tea

The 20 students at Orcas Montessori School threw a Valentine’s Tea for parents and friends on Friday, Feb. 13 that would put the Queen to shame.

Dressed like lords and princesses, the kids lined up to entertain with songs and poetry before settling in with their guests for tea sandwiches, cookies and lovely pots of tea.

With a little help from Director Teresa Chocano and teachers Tom Rubottom and Emily McGerty, the kids charmed the standing-room only guests with several tunes, among them “You Are My Sunshine,” and a song in Spanish about caring for those you love. Individual fan-like screens were used to illustrate the poem composed by the students about love whether it’s stormy or sunny outside.

Orcas Montessori School is located at 1147 North Beach Road, and welcomes visitors by appointment. The phone is 360-376-5350; with email at info@orcasmontessori.org.
