Music in the Park from 5-7 pm on Sunday, August 4.
Local Folk (a duo of Carl Burger and Marc Cohen) will be joined by special guests, the Crow Valley Family String Band (Jim Litch, Rachel Bishop, Tashi Litch, and Kaj Litch).
Local Folk is a musical duo rooted in traditional American folk music with occasional forays into pop, jazz, rock, parody, and the music of contemporary singer-songwriters. Orcas Island residents Carl Burger (emeritus inn-keeper) and Marc Cohen (emeritus philosophy professor) will present a program of instrumental and vocal music, accompanying themselves on guitars (both 6- and 12-string) and banjos. With tight harmonies and flying fingers, they offer both original tunes as well as their own interpretations of the work of others. Everyone is encouraged to sing along!
The Crow Valley Family String Band is an inspiring family of four musicians living in Orcas Island’s Crow Valley. They have a Celtic foundation, and perform a remarkable variety of original and traditional tunes and songs from North America and the British Isles. Employing varying combinations of fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, upright bass, and voice, this lively group delivers toe-tapping and heart-warming music that lifts your spirit.

It’s Dr. Rachel Bishop too, if you’re putting in titles. These folks are really great musicians!
