— from Jami Mitchell for Orcas Senior Center —
Do you live with a chronic disease like arthritis, diabetes, depression, COPD, obesity, back problems, or another chronic condition? Or are you the caregiver for someone who does? The Orcas Senior Center is honored to offer a free interactive workshop developed by Stanford University specifically designed to help people living with chronic diseases take charge and improve their quality of life.
The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is offered in partnership with Northwest Regional Council and includes six, FREE 2.5 hour sessions in which participants learn how to manage symptoms, set realistic goals, work with doctors, and much more. The program focuses on problems that are common to individuals dealing with any chronic condition and studies show that participants have significant, measurable improvements in their health and quality of life.
This unique opportunity comes to the Orcas Senior Center via support by Northwest Regional Council and San Juan County. The Orcas workshop will be led by Jami Mitchell and Wendy Stephens and begins Wednesday, September 6. It will be held every Wednesday afternoon for 6 weeks (September 6 – October 11) from 1-3:30 p.m.
Please pre-register by calling Jami directly at 360-376-7926 or emailing jamim@sanjuanco.com. Feel free to call with questions, and please spread the word about this special chance to get ahead of chronic diseases.
