||| FROM AMANDA SPARKS and BOB MORRIS for ORCAS ISLAND FOOD BANK |||
The abundant show of support for the Orcas Island Food Bank through this year’s Spring GiveOrcas catalog shows once again that “neighbors helping neighbors” is a vital part of life in our island home.
Many thanks to the Orcas Island Community Foundation and to everyone who generously demonstrated that they stand behind OIFB’s Mission, “To work with our community to prevent hunger.”
This funding enables the OIFB to partner with local farmers and include locally grown and raised food in a pantry that assists an average of over 400 households each week.
A total of $20,000 was donated; all of which will go to farmers in our community. It will help to alleviate food insecurity on Orcas Island, support the local economy, protect farmland, and provide access to healthy, nutritious food for those who need it.
For more ways to get involved, please email us at orcasislandfoodbank@centurylink.net, or visit orcasfoodbank.org.
