||| FROM ANNE MARIE and BERN SHANKS |||

We are fortunate. Throughout the San Juan Islands we are surrounded by incredible vistas, pristine waters, working farms, open space, mountains and forest land.  Picture postcard views are in every direction.

It is not by chance that our islands hold such beauty, many of these lands are held in public trust and conservation easements through our locally initiated County Conservation Land Bank.  Every 12 years we islanders must reaffirm at the ballot with our yes vote to renew our conservation Land Bank.

These public lands, sacred magical places like our Coho Preserve are  a nursery for salmon. Your Land Bank yes vote keeps our islands’ waters clean and shorelines healthy for all.

Your commitment with a yes vote supports and protects our wildlife habitat and wildlife like the pileated woodpecker we hear on an early morning walk. A yes vote brings 12 more years of stewardship for healthy forests and wetlands on our conservation lands.

Our Conservation Land Band and County Home Fund are joined in statewide legislation. Your yes vote enables affordable homes in our islands.

A vote to Renew will provide 12 years support to keep our beautiful island community a healthy vibrant home for all species.
