The lands preserved and stewarded by the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank are a cornerstone of what makes our county special. These lands not only safeguard critical ecosystems, such as healthy forests and clean water, but also contribute to the wellbeing of our citizens. Without the efforts of the Land Bank, both our natural environment and human communities would be diminished.

We hike on Land Bank properties regularly with our family, and can personally attest to the value public lands bring. For a small tax, the Land Bank sustainably manages these lands for the long-term benefit of everyone, rather than allowing them to be exploited for short-term profit by a select few. This small investment enhances the value of our islands as a whole.

The spirit behind the Land Bank is one of generosity and foresight. I encourage my fellow residents to vote yes on proposition one. Let’s vote to be good neighbors, to protect the long-term health of our community, and to preserve the special places that make San Juan County what it is.
