I support Ryan Palmateer for the County Council District 1 position. I have worked with Ryan for 3 years on energy conservation, renewable energy promotion, and climate action programs in the San Juan Islands.
Ryan is very committed to the resiliency and health of both our human and natural communities – and knowledgeable about the steps it will take for us to address these issues in the islands from a local government’s perspective. I also trust that he will champion other important initiatives such as affordable housing and a just economic recovery in the face of the pandemic.

I completely echo Katie’s sentiments. I have gotten to know Ryan over the last year and a half, working with him in our local Democratic Party and in our recent 3 1/2 month effort to update and revise our party platform (https://sjdemocrats.org/platform/). Ryan is incredibly bright and knowledgeable, and he is totally committed to making our county the best place to live that it can possibly be. I am amazed by the amount of energy he has and with the tremendous number of organizations with which he is involved; in many of them, he is the chair. In my opinion, Ryan is the future of government here in San Juan County, and if we support him, he will bring that future with him starting this January.
I support Cindy Wolf for County Council – I have had opportunities to converse with her one-on-one about her interest in serving on the Council, and agree with her that a change is overdue! She was impressively well-prepared in the Zoom forum for candidates last week. I hope you will share my enthusiasm for her candidacy!
