— from Don Webster —

unnamedOn Saturday morning, approximately 130 children and their families participated in the Orcas Island Lions Club’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Moran State Park. After a few comments and instructions from Mr. Cottontail, the children were off and made quick work at recovering 800+ plastic Easter Eggs stuffed with candy.

We would like to thank our Lions Club members, their friends and relatives as well as Orcas Island Sunrise Volunteers and others who came out that morning to remove the goose poop, layout the hunt areas, hide the eggs and oversee the event.  Special thanks also to:

  • Dr. Michael Triplett for donating toothbrushes to put in each of the goody bags provided to each participant,
  • The staff at Moran State Park for their efforts to prepare the Cascade Lake Day Use Area and Shelter for our use after our long, wet winter,
  • The Orcas High School for lending Mr. Cottontail a megaphone and
  • The Orcas Chamber of Commerce for re-scheduling their new Eastsound Easter event to avoid conflict with our annual Egg Hunt.

Thanks to all of this support we had an “Eggcellent” Event.

Mr. Cottontail is taking the rest of the year off but you can be sure he will return on Easter weekend 2017.
