Letter to Editor | Kari McVeigh will serve our county well

I am writing in support of Kari McVeigh for San Juan County Council District 1. I have known Kari for several years since she moved to San Juan Island, and I worked as her Administrative Assistant while she was the San Juan Island School District Superintendent.

I have always known Kari to be a strong leader who is fair, just, trustworthy and a person of great moral conviction.  Kari is a warm, intelligent, hard-working individual who is unafraid to take a stand on issues, and even more importantly, unafraid to change course if confronted with new information. I so appreciate this in a leader.

Kari weighs her positions against the greater good, always. She collaborates with honesty and openness and implements solutions based on common goals. Kari puts plans into action, whether that means threading a needle or moving a mountain.

Kari has built relationships with our legislative representatives and has worked with educational leadership throughout the county. These professional relationships have given her a clear perspective of issues facing each of our islands.

I knew I would vote for Kari the minute I heard she was running. Through her personal strength, integrity and ethical approach to leadership, Kari will serve our county well.
